Geneticin™ selective antibiotic (G418 sulfate) produced by the bacterium Micromonospora rubrum , inhibiting protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Geneticin™ selective antibiotic (G418 sulfate) resistance can be obtained by carrying the E. coli APH (3') – I and APH (3') – II resistance genes. Gibco™ Geneticin™ Selective Antibiotic (G418 Sulfate) is used as a selective antibiotic in the concentration range 100 - 200 µg/mL when used on bacteria and in the concentration range 200 - 500 µg/mL when used on most mammalian cells mL.
