IMDM is a modified version of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium, containing selenium and other amino acids and vitamins. Additionally, this unique medium is iron-free, using potassium nitrate instead of ferric nitrate.

cGMP Manufacturing and Quality Systems
Gibco™ IMDM is manufactured in a cGMP compliant facility in Grand Island, New York. The factory is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard. To ensure supply chain stability, we also offer the same Gibco™ IMDM product (42200-030) manufactured in our Scottish factory. The facility is an FDA-registered medical device manufacturer and is certified to the ISO 13485 standard.

IMDM does not contain proteins, lipids or growth factors. Therefore, IMDM needs to be supplemented with nutrients, usually 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). IMDM uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (3.024 g/L) and therefore requires a 5-10% CO₂ environment to maintain physiological pH.
