Lactate Sensor / Test Strips: The core consumable, designed for single use. They measure lactate concentration through an enzyme-electrode reaction with a blood sample. 

Lancets: Used for a single fingertip puncture to obtain a small blood sample. A common size is 28G, which is thinner and causes less discomfort. They may be sold separately or included in a starter kit with the device.
